Here’s your #TapeTuesday! Soul Asylum – Let Your Dim Light Shine (1995)

Here's your #TapeTuesday. A driving force behind the fruitful Minneapolis scene of the 1980's, Soul Asylum built their reputation with tireless touring and a string a punk albums for the legendary Twin/Tone label. In 1992 they released Grave Dancers Union which went triple platinum on the back of the eye-catching music video for "Runaway Train" which featured dozens of missing children around the country and a hotline to call. In 1995 they suffered a bit from what-to-do-next syndrome and released Let Your Dim Light Shine. Not even the highly sought-after producer Butch Vig could help this project. A new drummer, a Weird Al spoof and a dreary first single all made this a dark era for the band. I still enjoy this runaway train wreck of an album thanks to its eclectic nature and the "Just Like Anyone" video starring Claire Danes. Purchased July 1995 at Pamida in Minocqua, WI. #SoulAsylum #LetYourDimLightShine #DavePirner #KarlMueller #DanMurphy #SterlingCampbell #ButchVig #AndyWallace #Columbia #Sony #Misery #JustLikeAnyone #PromisesBroken
